We arrive at Lake City, our final destination of this day's excursion. It is a quaint town staying true to it's 1800's mining boom roots. The paved main street is bordered by gravel shoulders and wooden boardwalks. The main bar in town, "The Packer Saloon" with it's "Cannibal Grill" (photos #08-09), is a whimsical reference to Colorado's historical and infamous Alfred Packer Massacre (see previous photo section).
After a stroll on the boardwalks and stops in a couple of shops in Lake City, we head back on the 50-mile drive to our home base for our final night in the rental house in Creede and head back home to Colorado Springs the next day, Friday, September 28th.
